Deployment Sucks!

As many of you know, I am the wife of a Marine. I met my husband when I was 18, so the military lifestyle is all I know. As a military family, we experience life in a much different way than most people do. It is not all peaches-n-cream, nor is it all bad. Society seems to gravitate to the idea that we have it made or that our spouse took an easy career path. Well, that is far from the truth.
We are not rich and in no way is it easy.

The part that is not so peachy is when our husbands are gone. Society doesn't see that military families are often separated for months & in some cases a year. Military families do not get "used" to being separated. Military wives do not love their husbands any less because we keep living life, while he is deployed or training. We continue moving forward because we have too. We go on with everyday chores, our jobs and attending to our kids because we play the role of both mother and father.
We know that everyday that goes by is one day closer towards being together with our loved one.
We depend on our friends to help us get through the difficult times. This is where the saying, "our friends become our family" comes true.

Below is a wife who extracts the truth to what I have been saying.

She is one of many that people often overlook in the super market shopping alone with her kids. She is probably the one in front of you in the post office. She is probably the one who goes to all her kid's functions at school. She is probably your next door neighbor. She is not alone. She serves with thousands of other military wives here at home, while their husbands serve overseas.
